Trump endorses Michigan candidate Steve Carra in primary against 'RINO' Republican Fred Upton who voted for his impeachment

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Michigan state Rep. Steve Carra on Tuesday over incumbent GOP Rep. Fred Upton - a so-called 'RINO' who voted in favor of impeachment.

'Upton has not done the job that our Country needs, for years has talked about leaving office and not running again, and he voted for Impeachment of the President of the United States on rigged up charges,' Trump said in a statement. 'He doesn’t deserve to keep his seat.'

Trump is putting his weight behind a one-term state House member who introduced legislation to audit Michigan's 2020 election in June.

The ex-president has been supportive of election audits as he continues to falsely claim that widespread fraud caused him to lose the race to Democratic President Joe Biden.

Trump didn't mention Carra's position on an audit in Tuesday's endorsement, instead describing him as someone who is 'strong on Crime, Borders, and loves our Military and our Vets.'

'Steve will continue to fight for Low Taxes and all of the other things that the Great people of Michigan want and need,' Trump continued.

'Steve Carra has my Complete and Total Endorsement!' he added.

Upton, who hasn't yet announced a re-election bid, has been in the U.S. House since 1987.

He was among the 10 House Republicans and seven Senate Republicans who voted in favor of Trump's second impeachment - that he incited the January 6 insurrection on Capitol Hill.

Trump has gone out of his way to make the political lives miserable of those who voted for his impeachment.

The ex-president restarted his campaign rallies by traveling to the Ohio district of impeachment backing GOP Rep. Anthony Gonzalez in June, so he could stump for former aide Max Miller.

Trump also endorsed Kelly Tshibaka, who's running to take GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski's job.

Later on Tuesday, Trump put out a statement admonishing Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey, who announced nearly a year ago that he wouldn't be running for a third term.

'The only reason Senator "Gloomy" Pat Toomey is not running for the Senate in Pennsylvania is that I would not give him an endorsement - I feel he has been a terrible representative for both Pennsylvania and the United States, as a whole,' the former president claimed.

Trump also credited himself for winning Toomey a second term.

'He ran with me in 2016 and wasn't expected to win, but because of my victory he did,' Trump said. 'He still doesn’t realize what happened, and why—not the sharpest tool in the shed.'

Trump has already backed Republican Sean Parnell in Pennsylvania's GOP Senate primary.

Last year, Parnell lost a House race to Democratic Rep. Conor Lamb, who's now running in the Pennsylvania Democrats' Senate primary.

'He will do all of the things that Toomey is incapable of doing,' Trump said of Parnell.

On Tuesday, Trump also endorsed GOP hopeful Kristina Karamo, who made false claims about election fraud in the aftermath of the 2020 race.

She's hoping to be Michigan's secretary of state, the official in charge of the state's elections.
