Sharks fined $100,000: Fined post comments made by GM Doug Wilson

Sharks fined $100,000 for the comments made by GM Doug Wilson. The NHL announced Saturday that the San Jose Sharks organization has been fined $100,000 for comments made by general manager Doug Wilson on Friday. Wilson was highly crtical of the NHL's decision to suspend forward Raffi Torres for his Game 1 hit on Jarret Stoll. Part of Wilson's comments: "Comparing the facts of this incident against the actual wording of Rule 48.1, it appears that the NHL has not only made an inappropriate application of this rule but is trying to make an example out of a player who is being judged on past events, one who has changed his game dramatically this season and taken only six minor penalties in 39 games." The NHL says the statement was a violation of league rules that prohibit teams from making formal statements during the 48-hour period following a disciplinary ruling. $250,000 subway typo: Over 80,000 Maps misprints A $250,000 subway typo is causing some major issues for the New York transit authority today. On March 9, the New York Post reported that brand new signs had to be taken down and thrown away after someone realized that the fare amounts on them were incorrect. This is costing a lot of money for the MTA and it caused major mayhem this week when workers were urgently ordered to stop distributing the maps. "They’re very embarrassed about this. They were frantically calling the booths trying to get these maps back," a transit source said. Apparently the Transit Workers Union Local 100 made the mistake, and printed over 80,000 maps with the wrong information on them. The $250,000 subway typo won't be rectified until later this week.
